Emotion information processing as a new component of emotional intelligence: Theoretical framework and empirical evidence

The relationship between emotional intelligence (EI) and emotion information processing (EI P ) has received surprisingly little attention in the literature. present research addresses these gaps literature by introducing a conceptualization of as composed two distinct components: (1) EI K or Knowledge component, captured current ability tests, related to top-down, higher order reasoning about emotions, which depends more strongly on acquired culture-bound knowledge emotions; (2) Processing measured with tasks, requires faster is based bottom-up attention-related responses information.
